2023 M&O Override Election

  • November 7, 2023 Override Election Information

On May 9, 2023, the Deer Valley Unified School District’s Governing Board unanimously approved to seek voter authorization of a continuation of the existing 15% override. The 2019 voter approved override will be entering the phase down period and vital funds will no longer be available after December 31, 2024.

This election will help preserve current fine arts and athletic programs such as art, general and instrumental music, and physical education, as well as maintain class sizes. The funds will also be used to attract and retain highly qualified teachers and support staff.

The total cost of the override for homeowners is a continuation of $21.27 per month property tax on the average assessed home value. Your taxes will NOT increase as a result of passage of this override.

Without your support, the district will have to reduce the operational budget by over $10 million each of the next three years of the phase down. Passage of the override will ensure that your District will avoid cutting elective classes, programs, and services that directly benefit students and positively impact our community. Supporting the override will allow the continuation of quality educational programs for our students.
